SAIL FAQ

Q. What is SAIL?
A. SAIL is "Sharing Adventures in Learning" -- a new, inclusive homeschool group centered in Collin County.

Q. How is SAIL unique? What kinds of activities and support does SAIL offer?
A. SAIL is a member-governed, inclusive community of homeschooling families in the McKinney, Texas area. We encourage and respectfully support a membership diverse in homeschool style, race, religion, life philosophy, political views, and family composition and situation. We endeavor to provide a safe, welcoming environment for varied student activities, both group-wide and age-specific; from toddlers to teens and for all levels of abilities and ranges of needs. We provide a network of support for the entire homeschool family by offering some activities only for parents, as well as events that include all family members.

Q. Who can join SAIL?
A. Application for participating and voting Membership is open to any homeschooling family in Collin County and surrounding areas that supports the purpose and mission statements found in Article I, Sections 2 and 3 of the by-laws. All applicants are required to agree to abide by the Code of Conduct and to sign a Release of Liability form upon joining.

Q. Who leads SAIL?
A. SAIL is led by a member-elected 5-person Board of Directors and by member volunteers.

Q. Why does SAIL have by-laws and an elected Board of Directors?
A. We created by-laws so that everyone knows the rules of the group before they join and to have procedures in place to handle difficult situations that may arise. We elected a Board of Directors so many can share the responsibility of running SAIL. Having a 5-member Board will allow for continuity as positions are passed to the next generation of leaders.

Q. Does SAIL collect dues?
A. Semi-annual dues of $15 are collected upon joining and during Membership Renewals in August and February.
